Olympic English
is a four-color, three level series that takes students from
High-Beginning to Intermediate level, designed to help Chinese
adult learners improve their level of English. The 2008 Olympic
Games have clearly captured the imagination of people in China.
A result of this enthusiasm is the growth of English language
learning among adults in China. The purpose of Olympic English is
to harness the Olympic spirit, while providing basic English
instruction with extensive practice in listening, speaking and
reading through a variety of high-interest topics. This series
presents everyday English as well as sports terms in the
context of the 2008 Olympic Games. Extensive practice in
listening, speaking and reading is provided.
The activities will encourage pair-work and
group-work. An accompanying teacher’s guide will explain
to teachers how to use the materials.
